For Dynamics NAV 2009 – NAV 2018. Move to the Microsoft Cloud: no servers to manage, automatic updates twice a year, Copilot and AI agents, with existing customizations converted to extensions.
Upgrade NAV to Business Central on-premises
Keep running on your own servers and control when updates happen. Suits organizations that must keep data in-house or have many internal systems connected to the ERP.
Upgrade an existing Business Central on-premises
Running an older Business Central on-premises version (for example BC14)? Upgrade to the current release for new features and security fixes, and get back onto a version Microsoft still supports.

Why plan your upgrade now
- Dynamics NAV 2018, the last NAV release, left mainstream support on 10 January 2023, and its extended support (security updates only) ends on 11 January 2028 under Microsoft’s lifecycle policy. Earlier NAV versions are already out of support or close to it.
- NAV systems customized in C/AL are harder to maintain every year, and connecting them to newer systems (e-Tax, Power BI, APIs, e-commerce) is difficult.
- Older ERP versions often keep you on older Windows Server / SQL Server releases too, which is a security risk.
- The longer you wait, the wider the version gap — and the more data conversion and customization work the upgrade needs.
